The T-Bird boys track team won the regional championship for the first time in school history behind some unbelievable individual performances and a relay state record.
Jamir Coleman and Mykale Rogers went 1-2 in the 100 and the 200, and switched places for another 1-2 finish in the long jump.
Scott Willeke won a regional title in the 800 with a time of 1:55.66!
The 4×2 relay team set a Div 3 state record of 1:27.6, breaking the record held by last year’s LCC state champions! The runners are Scott Willeke, Dimitri Floyd, Jamir Coleman and Mykale Rogers.
And Alex Rigg finished 7th in the 2 mile, just short of qualifying for state and a huge contribution to the regional title! Alex Rigg and Scott Willeke also scored points with another 7th place finish in the 4×8 relay along with Ben Stechschulte and Sean Daley.
What a night for the T-Birds, getting the school’s first-ever regional title, and now next weekend the boys will go for the school’s first ever team state title at Jesse Owens Stadium at Ohio State! Good luck T-Birds!!!
