When Emily Sreenan entered her freshman year at LCC, she brought with her an expectation of success after winning many distance races in junior high. But nobody could have expected the kind of year she put together. After qualifying for the state cross country meet in the fall, Emily finished in the top 15, putting her on the podium and qualifying her as an all-state performer. Fast forward to the spring sports season, where Emily capped off her freshman year yesterday at the state track meet, finishing fifth in both ends of an extremely tough double, the 1600 and the 3200. With the two races less than two hours apart, many athletes who qualify for both at the state meet decide to concentrate on only one of the two and opt out of running both. But not Emily. She attacked both races on Saturday and came away with two top-5 finishes, an incredible feat for anyone, made all the more impressive by a freshman runner. Congratulations to Emily for an incredible year, and we all know that there is much more to come from someone who shows that kind of toughness. Great job Emily!!!!
