BATH TOWNSHIP – It seemed to be more of a race for second place at Tuesday’s Bath Invitational.
At the annual cross country meet on the Bath campus, there was little doubt in who was going to notch the individual titles in both the girls’ and boys’ races.
In the boys race, Ottoville’s Brendon Siefker took control early on and was never challenged as he won in a time of 16 minutes, 44.09 seconds. Bath’s Wyatt Stahl finished in second place in 17:21.38.
Rounding out the top five in the boys race were Shawnee’s Jon Wahlie (17:48.03), Delphos St. John’s Curtis Pohlman (17:54.56) and Bath’s Vincent Abrams (18:13.38).
On the girls’ side, Lima Central Catholic sophomore Emily Sreenan jumped into the lead and led from start to finish. Sreenan’s winning time was 19:49.47. Elida’s Alyssa Turrentine finished second in 20:22.41. Rounding out the top five girls included three Shawnee runners – Faith Baxter (20:49.15), Anne Hardy (20:49.15) and Taylor Blythe (21:31.31).
