Game 2: Lima Central Catholic 74, Cincinnati Roger Bacon 56 (Box Score)
Lima Central Catholic blew the game open in the 3rd quarter (18-8) thanks to the Tre Cobbs show. The cat-quick senior used his elite crossover to freeze defenders allowing him to create space for knock down threes and basket attacks. Classmate Dantez Walton was very good as well knotting his career-high for points with 30 and added 11 boards. With the win, The Thunderbirds will play in their their state championship game in as a many years against a familiar foe, Cleveland VASJ, as the two teams have met in the previous two finals with each squad winning one. The game started with a series of runs as LCC jumped out to a (10-0) lead to start the game before Roger Bacon answered with an 11-0 spurt. However, the Spartans didn’t have enough to keep up with the veteran and athletic T-Birds. Cobbs finished with 20 points and five assists, while fellow senior Ethan O’Connor added 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Roger Bacon got a fantastic effort from junior Justin Johnson finishing with 16 points and classmate James Johnson added 14.
